#5 – The Laggards – Canceled

September 26th, 2008 by The Spovangelist

We are sorry to announce that “The Laggards” has been canceled due to concern over possible reader misinterpretation and outrage.

We would, however, like to leave you with this picture of our friend Justin. While not a Laggard himself, Justin has perfected the art of criticizing their stubborn and often superstitious ways.

Ooh, i was looking forward to reading that one.

I have to say I’m surprised to see you cop out of this. All the comments I read were fair without ever being disrespectful. If you indeed want “to spark and advance conversation,” then you have to expect criticism, particularly when you choose to use the diffusion theory the way you did.

Becoming defensive and not following through with the rest of the series is an indication that you don’t have anything to back up your statements with. If that’s the case, then fine, I suppose. Better to admit defeat and take it as a lesson.

However, if you feel you are in the right, it would seem to me it would make more sense to write your “laggards” post and then come up with a conclusion to the series. That way you could properly “state your case” and advance the conversation.

HA! Justin I remember sitting next to that guy in English class in high school. He looks a bit different now. I would like to hear Justin’s definition of Laggards.

Oh Remi you know exactly how to motivate me, don’t you?

Stay tuned for the “real” Laggard post at a later date.

Wow…You actually might incite more outrage and misinterpretation by not concluding this series. :)

Besides, I don’t think “reading local activist blogs” falls under the laggard activities, right? So they probably won’t even see this to be offended.

Well, as you heard earlier from me, my feelings nearly mimic those of Remi on this.
I just feel that the fact that you struck a nerve – whatever the implications turned out to be – by not continuing what you started you have really done a disservice. Ride out the storm!
    Peace

People are THINKING. People are advancing a conversation!

You have now more clearly and firmly stated your intention with this series of postings.
The way you have chosen to execute reaching said aim has inspired some passionate audience members to react in ways you perhaps did not anticipate.
    SO WHAT?
If you believe in your intention, there’s no reason not to continue your experiment. You scientist you.

I mean, come on now, Laggards are people too!!! Surely they deserve a post in the least!
