Spokane is proud to be an All-American City. What better way to act on our patriotism than to celebrate the bounty of our local soil this beautiful holiday weekend? No foreign black gold necessary to put food on our families plates, Spokane is in the throws of a local foods revolution!
There are so many different producers, restaurants, groceries, activists, connoisseurs, and everyday folks jumping on this bandwagon that it is impossible to name them all. Here are a few food independence highlights to wet your appetite Please feel free to chime in with the many I am sure to miss.

Anyone else know of other greater Eastern Washington co-ops, free range farms, or organic produce markets?
Hey Spovangelist–
Okay, I feel bad leaving this as a comment, but I couldn’t find your contact info. If you’re interested The Purple Turtle Inc. is hosting a press conference at The White Room on 117 W Pacific Ave next Tuesday, July 14th for the Cobra Roofing Polo Classic in September. We’re inviting local bloggers to come out and it should be a great opportunity to learn a little bit about the benefit, meet other bloggers and members of the press..and support the Ronald McDonald House (the Polo Classic beneficiary). We’re going to have horses out here, tents, Kentucky derby style hats, RMHC kids, cookies from TASTE Cafe and some light refreshments. Let me know if you have any questions, but definitely try to make it out! Look forward to meeting you!
Thanks!

I am just writing you a note to say how much I LOVE Fresh Abundance! I have getting the boxes for about three months, and I just filled up a bowl with plums, apricots, and a mango from today’s box, and they are almost too beautiful to eat. Fortunately they will take a few days to ripen, so I can admire them in the meantime.
I love all the little surprises I get each week, from baby bok choy to yellow pattypan squash to speckled trout lettuce! I eat more vegetables now than I did before, and Fresh Abundance introduces me to yummy produce I’ve never tried. I have discovered many good recipes as a result of “the inspiration of the box,” like fresh fava bean paella; oven-fried zucchini sticks; raw beet, carrot, and apple salad; and more.
So, I just wanted to say thanks so much for introducing me to Fresh Abundance. I try to spread the good word, but sometimes I do come off preaching organic and “conventional farming is the devil!” I am trying to be more positive in what I say.
Well I should probably pass on some words of praise to Fresh Abundance themselves, hm? Perhaps I will write them a card.
