Mixes Of The Valentine Variety

Generally, I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day. Unless I get to decorate a shoebox and watch my classmates fill it with candy, I don’t get much from the holiday. And honestly, I think ‘love,’ ‘like,’ and everything in between, should be celebrated errday of the year, not just the middle of February.

But I recognize V-Day is a big deal. So I made a couple of mixes. The first is akin to the dreamy sound that fills your head when you spot your crush. The second is a little more serious and mellow.

Enjoy!

Mix 1:

40 Day Dream- Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

You Make My Dreams- Hall and Oates

Scissor Runner- Jenny and Johnny

Never Had Nobody Like You- M. Ward

Shout- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

Bullfighter Jacket- Miniature Tigers

5 Years- Noah and the Whale

Mix 2:

Of Angels and Angles- The Decemberists

Thirteen- Elliott Smith

Chasing a Ghost- The Head and the Heart

It’s Not Like- Sharon Van Etten*

*Side note: This is one of my favorite songs. Ever. And when I was at Bumbershoot this past September, I not only had the pleasure of being front and center for SVE, but she played this song at my request. Sawooon.

Love Lost- The Temper Trap

Crown of Love- This Is Ivy League

Modern Romance- Yeah Yeah Yeahs (listen to the whole thing, there is a brief artistic gap in the middle.)
