It’s back, and it’s sleeker and more sophisticated than ever before. What started as an eager fantasy over two years ago has finally “announced itself on the larger stage of city wide awareness.”

For those who need a refresher course, Terrain is unique among Art Walk attractions in that it is organized by a group of unincorporated young people who are working outside the traditional gallery model to help make Spokane a more culturally vibrant and socially cohesive place.
The location is transitory and the scope of work is diverse, to say the least. Unlike the Raw Space exhibits, Terrain is a juried show meant to feature the work of the next generation of up-and-coming local artists.

The question for Terrain going forward is how to use the success of the annual event to galvanize support for improving Spokane’s creative scene on a more ongoing basis. It will take a lot of passion and patience to create a broad range of involvement opportunities that everyday people can easily plug into. This level of strategizing won’t happen overnight, but all the right elements are in place and we are well on our way to a thriving network of people working together.
Be there or be square!
